FORGOTTEN HEROES

This memorial, believed to be unique to Veterans Memorial Park, commemorates the animals that have helped us in times of war, conflict and peace. Local, Noah Tremblay spearheaded this important memorial as part of an elementary school project.

The Monument pays tribute to elephants, birds, horses and dogs. The Supreme Sacrifice of Sergeant Gander the Newfoundland dog who served with our forces in Hong Kong during WWII is immortalized in a life size sculpture. You can also find 140 names of Sentry Dogs
and handlers from the Cold War era etched in the two stone benches.
